Laura Branigan, multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and actress, was born in NY on July 3, 1952. Break-out hit “Gloria” (1982) became iconic song of 80's, rising to #2 on Billboard, staying on chart for 36 weeks. Next came Top 10 “Solitaire” (#7) and “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,” a #1 A/C hit. Laura's "Imagination" is heard on iconic Flashdance OST. Her involvement with film led to second Grammy nod. Title track from Self Control (1984) was another huge hit (#4), becoming Laura's biggest single. Another song from album, "The Lucky One," also went Top 40. Hold Me (1985) spawned Top 40 hit “Spanish Eddie" and ballad from Touch (1987), "Power of Love,” returned her to Top 40. Laura’s songs appear on Ghostbusters, Body Rock, Coming to America, and Salsa soundtracks. Acting credits include CHiPs, Automan, and Monsters, as well as films Mugsy’s Girls and Backstage. In 2000's Laura was back in studio and concert with 4-octave voice, consuming passion, and undeniable power that's pure Branigan! She played singing Janis Joplin in NYC musical Love, Janis (2002). Laura passed away on August 26, 2004 from a brain aneurysm.
