Mercy Mistress is a web series based on the memoirs of a Chinese American professional dominatrix in New York City. The story follows Mistress Yin who curates the fantasies of others and heals trauma with pain, while contending with the realities of immigrant family life. Each episode focuses on a particular client, their kink, and their slice of life: where their proclivities developed from and how they balance (or don’t balance) them with their “vanilla” reality. However, the contiguous story weaves through layers of Yin’s past and present personal life, to uncover the roots of her sadomasochism: a story of violence, empowerment and spirituality.
