We are Seal Centre Pieterburen Foundation, one of the oldest and largest seal rescue centers in the world. For years we have a passion for seals and their environment. A clean and healthy Wadden Sea is very dear to us. This unique piece of nature has the status UNESCO World heritage and we should treat it accordingly; for now, for later and for our children. You can visit us at the WEC (World Heritage Centre) in Lauwersoog, The Netherlands. Volunteers and researchers from all over the world are working and living on our campus and field station. By our collective passion and multidisciplinary approach we form a learning community. We transfer our knowledge and passion to the public and make them aware of our mission. All seals at the Seal Centre are wild animals and none of them are held in captivity. All seals are released again into their natural environment after their period of rehabilitation.
