CJayanthi Kumaresh Veena
Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh is a renowned Saraswathi Veena virtuoso, with a concert career spanning over four decades. She has played a pivotal role in bringing the Veena to global audiences and revitalizing interest in the ancient instrument. A twelve-time recipient of the “Award for Veena” from The Music Academy, Chennai, she is known as a Carnatic modernist who blends traditional and contemporary elements to create a unique musical dialogue. Her performances have been featured at major international festivals and prestigious venues. Recognised for breaking stereotypes and inspiring younger audiences, she has received numerous honors including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2022), Kalaimamani from the Government of Tamil Nadu, and the Sangeet Shikar Samman from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. A disciple of Vidushi Padmavathy Ananthagopalan and Padma Bhushan Dr. S. Balachander, she is widely regarded as one of India’s legendary Veena masters.
