What if the classical music you know could sound completely different? Authentic Sound investigates the lost sound-world of classical music and brings it back to life in performance. Pianist, organist, and researcher Wim Winters explores how Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and others are played today— especially inherited assumptions about tempo, metronome markings, technique, instruments, and performance practice. If you play, conduct, or teach this repertoire, the goal is to understand where those assumptions came from, discover possibilities you may never have been taught, and make more informed choices of your own. Wim returns to historical sources and instruments, then puts the ideas into sound: examine the evidence, hear the result, and decide what it means for your music-making.
