Transitioning from a Bollywood music producer into a mainstream pop artist, Sanjoy successfully fuses his South Asian influences with western ones to create his own worldly take on contemporary pop. Raised in Bangladesh, his family moved to California to escape religious persecution. In his teen years, Sanjoy preoccupied his time making beats using Reason and Ableton Live. Mash-ups and spinning came naturally and years later, he released "Ab Laut Aa", introducing his electronic edge to the Indian film industry's inner circle. His trademark became a common thread of Bollywood cinema. During this time, he readied his debut Dance Under the Influence; which featured the first hit to crack Billboard, "Slip Away". In 2017, Sanjoy recorded three more singles, OBVI, Victim of Love, and Shangri-La. Each continued his proclivity for cross-hatching genres by including Bollywood influences, but skillfully coalesced a dance-friendly, mainstream pop format as well.
